When looking at the data, it is important to remember that there can be transcription errors.
My ancestors name was Hawson but is recorded as Hanson. Also there are a number of places where the name might be registered as different on the departure documents as opposed to the arrival documents. Where this happens, look at the alternative provided to check if it is your ancestor.
An example is “Heenan” which says “see Keenan” in Departure list
Where there is no discrepancy, I have merged the two documents and removed the over 14 under 14 ages that were recorded on the arrival documents and put in the ages as listed in the departure document.
Codes mentioned in the table
I am uncertain what “entry crossed out” refers to
Free = no fare payable by the passenger; Assisted = required to pay some of their fare.
Remittance = Fare had been paid by someone else. Cabin & second cabin generally paid for their own fares.
AS = Able Seaman OS = ordinary seaman FL = Farm Labourer DS = domestic servant
